Matt BissonetteMatt Bissonette is an accomplished American bass player and vocalist, renowned for his versatility across genres such as jazz, rock, and fusion. Born on July 25, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, he was raised in a musically inclined family in Warren, Michigan. His father, Bud, was a drummer, his mother, Phyllis, played piano and vibraphone, and his brother, Gregg Bissonette, is a well-known drummer.

Bissonette honed his musical skills at the University of North Texas, studying jazz. In the early 1980s, he toured and recorded with jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson, performing alongside his brother Gregg during part of this tenure.

Relocating to Los Angeles in 1983, Bissonette's career expanded as he collaborated with a diverse array of artists, including Sheena Easton, Gino Vannelli, and Brian Wilson. He gained significant recognition as the bassist for David Lee Roth's band from 1987 to 1992, contributing to the album "A Little Ain't Enough" and participating in extensive world tours.

Throughout his career, Bissonette has worked with numerous notable musicians such as Joe Satriani, Don Henley, Steve Perry, Peter Frampton, Rick Springfield and Ringo Starr. From 2012 to 2023, he served as the bassist for Elton John's band, further solidifying his reputation in the music industry.

In addition to his collaborations, Bissonette has pursued solo projects and was a member of bands like The Mustard Seeds and The Squirts. (The Reddcoats recorded 2 albums from 2021-2025) His discography includes solo albums such as "Spot," "Raising Lazarus," and "Life of the Party."

Bissonette is also known for his proficiency with the fretless bass, influenced by legendary bassist Jaco Pastorius. He continues to bring his fretless bass to sessions, always prepared to contribute its unique sound when the opportunity arises.

Currently, Matt Bissonette resides in Orange County, California, with his wife, Chariya, and their two children.
